MCA Clarification on extension of Annual General Meeting for the Financial year ended on 31st March, 2020

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs vide Circular No- 28/2020 dated- 17^th August, 2020 have given clarification regarding holding of Annual General Meeting for the Financial Year ended on 31^st March, 2020 that the Companies which are unable to hold their AGM through video conferencing (VC) and other audio visual means(OAVM) as per the relaxation provided vide General circular no. 20/2020 dated 5^th March,2020 despite availing the relaxations provided earlier by MCA ought to file  an applicationin form GNL-1 for seeking extension with concerned Registrar of Companies on or before September 29, 2020.

The Registrar of Companies have been advised to consider all such applications liberally in view of the hardships that may be faced stakeholders and be granted extension as applied for period upto three months.
