MCA attempts to make companies more compliant: Strict penalties for non-compliance

Companies (Amendment) Ordinance, 2018 was promulgated by the President on November 2, 2018. The Ordinance was approved by the Houses of People on January 4, 2019 but could not be taken up for consideration in the Council of States. Since the Companies (Amendment) Ordinance, 2018 will cease to have effect from January 21, 2019 and considering it necessary to give continued effect to the provisions of the Companies (Amendment) Ordinance, 2018, the Companies (Amendment) Ordinance, 2018 has been replaced by the Companies (Amendment) Ordinance, 2019 on January 12, 2019.
